All Cub Scout Parents are encouraged to attend the following training. Also, parents are encouraged to attend any of the Scout Leader Training courses.
The Boy Scouts of America places the highest importance on creating the most secure environment possible for our youth members. To maintain such an environment, the BSA developed numerous procedural and leadership selection policies and provides parents and leaders with resources for Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Venturing programs.
Youth Protection is required for all registered Adult Leaders. Adult Leaders must take this course every two years in order for the Pack to Re-Charter.
To take this course, visit My Scouting.Org and create an account. After completing the course, print the certificate of completion for the Pack records.
BALOO = Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation
BSA requires that all Packs going on a Cub Scout camping trip have a BALOO trained, registered leader at the event. in this course, you will learn how to plan and execute a cub scout camping experience that the boys will never forget, and one that provides, fun, safety, good food and fellowship.
Scheduled for March 21, 2015.
Parents are encouraged to attend this course so they can assist the registered leaders on Pack Camp-outs.
University of Scouting
There are a wide variety of courses from basic training for the new volunteer leader, to supplemental "how to" courses in both unit planning and management, and scout skills, to getting off the worn and beaten path for an outdoor adventure and relaxation. These courses are not limited to the leaders, but are offered to any adult (associated with scouts) interested in spicing up their outdoor experience.
